Balkan influenced sextet Sagapol takes the stage at the Sean O’ Sullivan Theatre on Friday, Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Encore Professional Concert Series.

The Viva Voce choral series kicks off its 2013-2014 season with Nations in Harmony: A Post-1812 Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m.
Harris Loewen will conduct the concert that features St. Catharines’ own Avanti Chamber Singers, the Tuscarora Hymn Singers from Niagara County, New York, and the Youngstown Presbyterian Choir from Youngstown, New York.
The concert happens at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 99 Ontario St., St. Catharines.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students and seniors and $5 for high school students through the eyeGo program. Tickets are available at the door or Ryson’s Music in St. Catharines.
Patrice Baldwin will spend eight days teaching, speaking and hosting classes at Brock and throughout Niagara as part of the Walker Cultural Leader Series.
Baldwin, president of the International Drama, Theatre and Education Association (IDEA), is being hosted by the Department of Dramatic Arts from Oct. 3 to 9.
She will present the public lecture on Oct. 9 at 7:30 called Neuroscience, Creativity and Learning: Recent Research and Connections to Drama in Education and Arts-Based Learning.
The lecture is free and happens in Pond Inlet.
