It can be as divisive a question as asking whether someone prefers Coke or Pepsi.

Cream soup or brothy base in your bowl?

Maybe you’re on the fence. Maybe you’re on Team Chili instead.

Good news, whatever the case. The annual Brock United Way Souper Star Lunch and campaign kickoff in support of the charity happens Tuesday.

Bring your taste buds and an empty stomach to the Guernsey Market at noon on Oct. 8 and judge which liquid lunch rules supreme.

For the third year in a row, faculty deans will partner with chefs to demonstrate their culinary prowess. Soup slurpers and sippers will be given one ballot to vote for their favourite soup and determine the next champion.

Will Neil McCartney, Dean of Applied Health Sciences, hold on to his title from last year or will someone else have the golden ladle this year?

Tickets for the Souper Star Lunch are $10 and can be ordered through the Centre for the Arts box office at ext. 3257.

Not only is the event about capturing a culinary crown, it kicks off the University’s annual fundraising campaign for the United Way. The goal is to raise $123,000 for the charity and get 50 per cent participation from faculty and staff through payroll contributions.

Last year, Brock employees raised more than $130,000 for the cause through events and payroll contributions.
