Their penchant for physical fitness is laudable.
Medal-worthy, in fact.
A group of Brock staff and faculty, known as Hot Dang, These Folks are a Smokin’ Hot Team, showed how much they like to move it when they submitted their Fitness Challenge ’13 tallies and not only earned better lung capacity and endurance, but first-place medals and a trophy for their efforts.
Hot Dang, made up of 9 people from different departments, had the most points earned for physical activity between January and June this year. They out-exercised 17 other teams made up of 150 Brock faculty and staff for the title.
Granola Girls from International Services and Programs Abroad, and Straight and Narrow Crooks from Campus Security came in second and third respectively.
The fitness challenge is administered by the Brock Wellness Committee, which is an initiative of Human Resources, Environment Health and Safety and Recreation Services.
Points are given to participants for time spent doing physical activity. Team captains record points each month for their teams and submit them to the organizers.
Bonus points are given for being active more often.
Honourable mention certificates were presented to the Department of Finance, a.k.a. Reduce the Surplus Team, which was recognized for maintaining strong and steady activity points for a large team.
The Department of International Affairs, calling themselves the International Impalas, received a certificate for keeping the pace for a small team.
