A member of the Goodman School of Business staff has been recognized for her efforts in championing issues of access and equity in graduate education.
Shari Sekel, director of graduate programs received the Building Bridges award from the National Association of Graduate Admissions Professions (NAGAP), at the association’s annual conference last month in Florida.
She was given the honours for initiating the establishment of the Canadian Association of Graduate Admissions Professionals (CAGAP), the Canadian Chapter of NAGAP, which laid the framework for advancing the profession of graduate enrolment management in Canada.
Sekel, along with her colleagues, have demonstrated a commitment to the successful international expansion of NAGAP by connecting Canadian universities and international graduate enrolment management professionals with the association.
When Sekel, a Brock alumna, returned to her alma mater as an employee in 2000, the then-Faculty of Business had two graduate programs with 30 students. Sekel was the only staff member.
Today, Goodman offers seven graduate and pre-graduate programs with more than 500 students and a team of talented and enthusiastic team members under Sekel’s leadership.
