A longtime fixture on the Brock campus has a new home.

Concordia, the bronze sculpture that stood in a greenspace just east of the front of the Schmon Tower, was moved Monday to a perch in the new garden outside the Cairns Complex.

The one-ton sculpture was created by Canadian artist Elza Mayhew and has been on the Brock campus since 1968, after being on display at Expo ’67 in Montreal.

Its new location is a more prominent one, surrounded by benches and located on the main pathway through campus.

Students from sculpture class observed the move. They were also given a lesson in a how a one-ton piece of metal is formed by an artist and becomes a work of art.
