Brock mourns the death of retired nursing lecturer

Brock University is saddened by the death of Janet Mathews, an adjunct professor in the Department of Nursing.

She died last week at Hospice Niagara with her family by her side. She was 66.

Mathews retired in 2009 after seven years as a lecturer at Brock University. After retiring, she continued delivering guest lectures as an adjunct faculty member and furthering her research in the area of ethical decision making, which included her Algorithm for Ethical Decision Making in Clinical Practice.

She will be remembered for her passion for nursing and nursing education as demonstrated through her teaching and interactions with students and colleagues.

Visitation will be held at Williams Funeral Services on Tuesday, May 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. & 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, May 15 from 11 a.m. to noon.

A service will be held in the Williams Chapel on Wednesday at noon to pay tribute to Mathews’s life.
