Were you part of a group or club while a student at Brock? For many graduates, a highlight of university life was the time spent as part of a student run organization. Why not reunite with long lost friends by organizing a reunion? Brock Alumni Relation’s mission is to help reconnect graduates and redevelop their relationship to Brock. Organizing your reunion doesn’t have to be complex, it just involves some organizing skills, and creativity!
Last September, the Brock University cheerleading team had its first inaugural ‘generations’ reunion, with more than 40 teammates from 1990 to 2012 in attendance. Alumni Relations helped the group organize their goals, obtain contact information of former cheerleaders and helped with planning. It was a successful day, as former cheerleaders recaptured their spirit through group activities, food and a ‘team’ photo in front of the Schmon Tower. Bringing together old friends starts with you! Here are some tips and resources to help you organize your reunion for your social cultural/athletic/departmental group.
1) Review the Reunion guide, lots of practical tips and ideas on how to organize your reunion.
2) Connect with Brock Alumni Relations to obtain contact information on members of your club or group.
3) Consider planning your reunion during Brock Days, Alumni Weekend Sept. 19-22. Other large events to consider are the Alumni of Distinction Awards or regional network pub night.
