Brian Hutchings, Vice-President of Finance and Administration, and Academic Integrity Officer Troy Brooks will be models in an upcoming fashion show fundraiser for Bethlehem Housing and Support Services.

Two fashionistas from Brock University – Brian Hutchings and Troy Brooks – will strut their stuff in Fashion in Bloom, a fundraiser for Bethlehem Housing and Support Services.

The April 19 event is at 7.30 p.m. at the Black Sea Hall, 455 Welland Ave., St. Catharines. Tickets are $25.

Bethlehem, in partnership with the community, provides affordable housing and services to support the personal growth of individuals and families.

“If you enjoy shopping, music and fashion, then this is the event for you,” enthused Sandra Lethby, show co-chair.

The funds raised from the show will help Bethlehem Housing help people facing issues of poverty, abuse, homelessness and family breakdown to rebuild their lives through in-house and community supports.

Hutchings, Brock’s Vice-President, Finance and Administration, began modelling for the show eight years ago when a volunteer, Grace-Ann Cambray, was looking for a young family with young children.

“This is the only modelling that I perform,” Hutchings said.

“Old football players are not that photogenic and clothes are difficult to fit,” the former Canadian Football League player added.

Nonetheless, he will be working it in swimwear, outdoor wear and formal attire.

Brooks, academic integrity officer at Brock, will be appearing in his fourth Fashion in Bloom show. He got involved when a modelling friend asked him to volunteer some time to the event.

“In a past life, I worked for several major retailers and have co-ordinated and hosted fashion shows,” he said. ” I have modelled everything from swimwear to men’s fur coats.”

This time around, Brooks will be showcasing outfits from Mark’s Work Wearhouse, Outdoors Oriented and Sun Chasers.

Other fashions in the show come from the racks at The Bay, Gypsy Alley, Once Upon a Child, Bobbi Sandham and Verity.

New this year is a Vendors’ Corner, which will feature merchandise from Vintage Vogue, Silpada, Scentsy and Gwen’s Teas.

There will be a cash bar, door prizes, raffles and refreshments.
