On Saturday, March 31, the Brock University Alumni Association (BUAA) will recognize 35 alumni who best exemplify the Brock spirit through their scholarly, creative, humanitarian or professional contributions to Canada and beyond.
The Alumni of Distinction Awards originated in the 2006-07 school year under the name “30 from the Past Thirty” when the BUAA celebrated its 30th anniversary. Thirty outstanding Brock graduates scattered all over the world received an award to acknowledge their commitment to exemplifying Brock University’s core values — imagination, innovation, and commitment. Examples of such remarkable grads include a former MuchMusic VJ, a silver medal Olympian, a university basketball coach and a war crimes prosecutor.
The BUAA received many excellent nominations in November and December, representing all Faculties, and organizers are carefully going through the selection process with the aim to release the names of the award recipients next month.
Chris Capredoni (BBA ’91), president of the Alumni Association, says “it has been very exciting to see the nominations for so many of our alumni who have accomplished much in their personal and professional lives.” He hopes all alumni will attend the event.
The Alumni of Distinction Awards will also be the launch of the new BUAA wines, in partnership with Creekside Winery. New wines have been selected, along with a brand new design. If you attend the celebration, you’ll be able to try the Unoaked Chardonnay as well as the Merlot.
