A celebration in Pond Inlet on Friday will honour Dorothy Griffiths, Brock’s latest recipient of the Order of Canada.

Griffiths received the country’s highest honour earlier this year for her work improving the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. The event will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16 in Pond Inlet. Everyone is welcome.

The Child and Youth Studies and Applied Disabilities Studies professor has devoted her career to helping people with intellectual disabilities, particularly those with mental health issues.

Her contributions include consulting work on reintegrating people with intellectual disabilities into the community. With three other Brock professors, she is three years into a four-year research project evaluating the reintegration.
