Canada’s most famous chef, TV celebrity Michael Smith, will return to Brock this autumn to oversee the meal preparation when more than 300 guests gather for the fourth annual General Brock’s October Soirée.
This year’s black-tie Soirée takes place Saturday, Oct. 15, at Market Hall — a 1,080-square-metre dining lounge at the St. Catharines campus.
Smith will craft the menu and be on hand at the event to conduct food preparation and take part in festivities. His appearance is sponsored by Sodexo Canada, the University’s food services provider.
In addition to being an award-winning cookbook author and culinary journalist, Smith is known to millions as host of the Food Network’s Chef at Home, Chef at Large and Chef Abroad. He has received a James Beard Award for Cooking Show Excellence.
General Brock’s October Soirée is a fund-raising gala held each fall to commemorate the University’s namesake Major-General Sir Isaac Brock, who commanded British troops in the War of 1812. The event is a modern celebration interwoven with themes from this historic period in Canadian history.
The Soirée has raised more than $200,000 to date. Funds raised support student scholarships and students and faculty of the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts.
Tickets for General Brock’s October Soirée are $200 each.
