David Hayes, associate professor, gave a plenary address on “Empowering English language teachers through effective teacher education” at the 2011 International Conference of the Korea Association of Teachers of English, Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea, on July 1 and 2.

Hedy McGarrell, professor, attended the European Association for the Teaching of Academic Writing (EATAW) conference in Limerick, Ireland from June 29 to July 1 and presented the paper entitled “Teacher Commentary from ESL Writers’ Perspective.”
