Last Thursday night, amid a gorgeous solarium view of the Toronto Harbourfront and Queen’s Quay, a lively chatter of more than 150 Brock alumni filled Labatt Pub.
Thanks to the success of last year’s event, this year’s Toronto Brock Alumni Network Pub Night was sold out — the bar filled to capacity with energetic Brock alumni.
Grads were treated to scrumptious appetizers from Sugar and Spice like pulled pork sliders and French toast sandwiches as well as an array of Labatt products including the company’s most recent creation, “Shock Top”, a Belgian white beer with a hint of orange.
“It’s pretty unique that Brock alumni got to try it on Thursday,” said Jennifer Julie from Labatt. Shock Top is currently only available in a few select bars and restaurants in Ontario, with roll outs planned for the Beer Store and the LCBO within the next couple of weeks.
“It was a lively and festive crowd”, said Meaghan Moore (BA ’09), Brock University’s Young Alumni Officer. “More than 80 per cent of attendees were “young alumni” — alumni who graduated zero to 10 years ago.”
Notable Brock young alumni who made an appearance include Brent Furtney (BEd ’08, BPhEd ’08) from The Score and former BUSU executives Rob Lanteigne (BSM ’08), Lauren Souch (BA ’07) and Damien O’Brien.
Grads enjoyed themselves so much, they mixed and mingled past the official event end time. “The invitation said it ended at nine but this place is still jumpin’” said Darryl Moyers (BBA ’11) via Twitter. “Love it!”
Once they finally made their way out of Labatt Pub, several grads continued the party downtown.
Brock Alumni Relations would like to give special thanks to the Toronto Brock Alumni Network Committee for organizing what is expected to be an annual event, including Natalia Champagnie (BRLS ’02), Sean Woodhead (BA ’08), Carissa Bell (BBA ’08), Jim Dainard (BAcc ’02), Andrea Hazard (BA ’91), Andrew Julie (MBA ’05), and Jennifer Julie.
The Toronto committee is currently working on plans for another event to happen within the next couple of months. If you have any ideas you’d like to share, please visit brockpeople.ca
