Brock raising money for Japan relief efforts

Japan - Brock University is raising money for Japan and New Zealand earthquake efforts

There will be a meeting at Brock tomorrow to plan fundraising activities to help victims of the earthquake in Japan.

International Services and Programs Abroad will host the meeting on Tuesday, March 15 at 3 p.m. in International Centre 207. Volunteers will discuss how to collect money for the Canadian Red Cross to help those impacted by the earthquake.

The earthquake, which at a magnitude of 8.9 is estimated to be one of the largest ever, caused a massive tsunami that wiped out several towns and villages in Japan. The confirmed death toll is nearly 2,000, and more than 15,000 are missing.

In the past, the Brock community has collected substantial donations for the Canadian Red Cross for victims of the South Asian tsunami, the Pakistan earthquake and the Haiti earthquake.
