Brock celebrated the Chinese New Year with a 45-member visiting orchestra from Nanjing on Feb. 13.

The Traditional Chinese Instruments’ Orchestra performed at the David S. Howes Theatre. The performance was sponsored by Hanban, which is the Confucius Institute Headquarters in Beijing. The event was also the first formal cultural event organized by Brock’s new Confucius Institute.

The concert was attended by nearly 240 people who were entertained by traditional Chinese string, pipe, flute, wind and percussion instruments. The Do Re Mi Children’s Art Group of China also entertained the audience with interpretive dances and colourful costumes.

Aiming Cheng, Dean of the Institute for International Students of Nanjing University, takes the stage with Greg Finn, Brock's Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President Academic.
