Brock University’s Rodman Hall has received province-wide recognition with two awards from the Ontario Association of Art Galleries (OAAG).
The St. Paul Crescent gallery was lauded for design and installation for the Maria Fernanda Cardoso: Fashion and Mimesis exhibition, which was curated by Gary Genosko. It also won publication of the year for David Hoffos: Scenes from the House Dream, which was curated and organized by Shirley Madill.
The Legendary OAAG Awards were Sept. 24 in Toronto.
The Rodman Hall team has worked hard in the past year to deliver a strong program of exhibitions and events, and “I am proud of my staff,” said Madill, Rodman Hall director.
“We have a vision for Rodman Hall to be a significant leader and cultural force not only in this community, but also provincially and nationally,” she said. “To receive two awards was a pleasant surprise.”
The OAAG awards are judged by a jury of Rodman Hall’s peers — usually curators, writers, critics and directors of art galleries and museums.
“To receive recognition from these people I respect means a great deal,” Madill said.
The Legendary OAAG awards are the only annual juried awards to recognize excellence and achievement in Ontario’s public art gallery sector. More than 200 organizations and individuals are members.
