David Gabriel has been named to a prestigious academy in recognition of his contributions to the field of kinesiology.
The professor of Physical Education and Kinesiology has been elected an International Fellow of the National Academy of Kinesiology, formerly known as the American Academy of Kinesiology and Physical Education. He was inducted at the 80th annual meeting on Oct. 9 in Colonial Williamsburg, Va.
Gabriel was one of two people named as International Fellows.
The Academy’s membership is considered a “who’s who” list in the field of kinesiology and physical education. To be elected, individuals must be nominated and ratified by the entire Academy and have demonstrated competence in his or her field for at least 10 years.
About 490 people have been inducted into the Academy since 1926. Membership is limited to 150 Active Fellows.
