Students gather for mass beatboxing

First, they conquered the Guinness World Record for air guitar. Now the Brock University Students’ Union (BUSU) has its sights set on another goal — the largest ever human beatbox ensemble.

On Monday, Sept. 6, BUSU will lead students in a round of mass beatboxing. The attempt coincides with BUSU’s annual Tower Party, which will be in front of the Schmon Tower at 9 p.m. The beatboxing attempt will be at 10:45 p.m.

This week, Ryerson University broke the previous record of 327 with 961 people.

Brock student Justin Boutilier will lead the attempt. St. Catharines Mayor Brian McMullan will be on hand to oversee and confirm the number of people beatboxing. He will also announce the results of the world record attempt to more than 1,500 students expected to attend.

A year ago, Brock students already set the Guinness World Record for the largest number of people (1,436) simultaneously playing air guitar.
