A Physical Education and Kinesiology professor will be in the hot seat next week as Brock honours her as part of the annual Brock Days celebrations.
Maureen Connolly will be honoured at the Tribute! event, a dinner that celebrates someone who has made an important contribution to the Brock community. Tribute! will be Friday, Sept. 17 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. in Pond Inlet.
Connolly has been a member of the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences since 1991. Her teaching and research focus on curriculum, stress embodiment, and dancing and movement education. Her teaching approach is the foundation for a Special Needs Activity Program and Summer Movement Camp that have served children with autism spectrum disorder since the late 1990s.
Connolly has received a YWCA Women of Distinction Award and university and national teaching awards. She is also a 2009 Erasmus Mundus scholar.
Tickets are $45 each and available by calling 905-688-5550 x3011 or visiting brocku.ca/brock-days/register
Brock Days runs from Sept. 17 to 26 and has a full slate of events for families, current students and alumni.
“It’s a great chance for members of the Brock community and the broader community to celebrate the university,” said Kristen Smith, Community Services co-ordinator. “We have a lot of different options.”
