With less than two weeks to go, Brock Days Alumni Weekend is shaping up to be a fun-filled, jam-packed weekend of events. Hundreds of alumni are expected to attend more than 30 events within the span of three days.
Highlights include Pat Hewitt performing an intimate concert at Alphie’s Trough and Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker (USS) rocking Isaac’s at Alumni Pub Night on Friday, Sept. 17. We also pay “Tribute!” to Prof. Maureen Connolly, Physical Education and Kinesiology, on Friday night.
On Saturday, Michael Armstrong and Don Ursino will present lectures as part of Brock Days’ Back to Class series. On Saturday night, we celebrate anniversary classes from 1970, ’75, ’80 and ’85 and honour Distinguished Alumni Award recipients at the Cameo Club Reception and Alumni Celebration Dinner.
Several wine seminars are being held in Montebello Park on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, where you’ll have the opportunity to meet the persons behind the bottles — the winemakers, many of whom are Brock graduates.
umerous sporting events take place all weekend, including the Chris Critelli Golf Tournament on Saturday afternoon, the Brock Badgers Men’s and Women’s Soccer on Saturday and Sunday, and Men’s Hockey Steel Blade Tournament all weekend.
The weekend’s largest event, Reunion Station, is expected to fill Jubilee Court with alumni on Saturday afternoon. The event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sept. 18 and features live music from the Gelitones, a hot barbecue lunch, cash bar and fun activities for the kids, including face painting, balloon making and a bean bag toss. Several club and department reunions are also taking place at Reunion Station, including the 15th anniversary of Gordon and Betty Vallee Residence, the Brock Student Ambassadors 25th anniversary, the Welcome Centre and Community Connections 10th anniversary, the Computer Science Department 35th anniversary, and reunions of the Brock Philosophy Society, the Faculty of Business and the Faculty of Education. Campus tours are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
