Marilyn Rose, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, has been appointed to the new Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance.
She joins the 10-member Quality Council as one of two academic colleagues. Her two-year appointment began on July 1.
The Quality Council was established by the Council of Ontario Universities (COU) earlier this year. This newly created provincial body is responsible for assuring the quality of all programs — undergraduate and graduate — leading to degrees and diplomas granted by Ontario’s publicly assisted universities.
For the past two years, Rose has served as a member of the COU task force that was responsible for shaping the Quality Council’s mandate and processes.
“The creation of the Quality Council represents one of the most significant changes in the university system to come about in decades,” she said. “I’m very excited to have this opportunity to work with a new contingent of people who are dedicated to moving forward on issues of quality and accountability in post-secondary education in Ontario.”
Rose brings a wealth of experience in quality assurance to the new council, said Donna Woolcott, Executive Director Quality Assurance, Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance.
“She has been a member of the Ontario Council of Graduate Studies for six years and has served as its Chair. We are delighted that she has agreed to serve on the new Council and share her expertise and experience as we embark on this transformative process.”
