John Lye

John Lye is an Associate Dean in the Faculty of Humanities. He is also an associate professor of English Language and Literature, teaching modern literature and contemporary literary theory. A professor at Brock since 1970, he lives in rural Pelham. He is married to Kathryn and has a son named Matthew and a Giant Schnauzer named Drummer Boy.

What do you like about your job?

I like my job because it is challenging, diverse, and constructive, because I believe strongly in the value of a liberal education, and because I work with good people in a good institution.

What do you do for fun?

I am a cyclist, I read, I run errands for my dog Drummer Boy, and I do the bidding of our Head Gardener, my wife Kathryn.

What was the last good book you read?

The last good book I read was the third volume, Poison, Shadow, and Farewell, of Javier Marias’ trilogy, Your Face Tomorrow.
