David Sharron, head of Special Collections and Archives, was quoted in the St. Catharines Standard article “War of 1812 artifacts can now be viewed online” on Feb. 20. The article also appeared in the Niagara Falls Review and the Welland Tribune. In the story, Sharron discusses a new website — www.1812history.com — that lets visitors see digitized material from several Niagara museums.
“What you see on display at most museums is probably five to 10 per cent of what they’ve got,” Sharron says in the article. “This is an opportunity to get those things in storage on display while protecting their physical integrity at the same time.”
