The myth-busting Black Pack SELLOUT comedy tour is making a stop at Brock this month.

Stand-up comedians Billy D. Washington, Vince Morris, B.T. and Louis Johnson will perform at the Centre for the Arts on Feb. 25. The show will include the interactive segment “Ask a Black Man Anything” and other humour from a quartet with a suburban middle-class background.

The show is an alternative to the “negative black images” and “profanity and sexual references” typically associated with black comedy, Washington says in the group’s promotional material.

SELLOUT stands for serious, educated, laughing, learning, outrageous, unique and talented. The term comes from the group being called “sellouts” for being themselves rather than imitating popular urban acts.

“At some point in our career, each of us has been accused of not being true to our heritage, culture or profession,” Washington says.

The group’s motto is “Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.”

The group will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Sean O’Sullivan Theatre. Tickets are $41 for adults, $20 for university and college students and $5 for high school students through the eyeGO program. The show contains mature subject matter and language.
