Michael Armstrong, associate professor, Faculty of Business, was featured in an article — “Sugar! Colour! Process variation and quality control!” — in the January edition of Industrial Engineer magazine. He spoke with them about his use of data on candy quality and color when teaching his course on quality management. Brock readers can view the article through the Library here.
Armstrong noticed shocking variations when it came to companies matching contents with the box label.
“That was kind of unexpected for me to see such a wide difference in a simple product that you
would kind of think of as being almost standardized,” he said.
