Brock research awards open for nominations

Nominations are being accepted for the Chancellor’s Chair for Research Excellence and the Award for Distinguished Research and Creativity – two awards offered by Brock to reward outstanding research.

The deadline for nominations for both awards is Monday, March 1 at 4:30 p.m.

The University established the Chancellor’s Chair for Research Excellence to encourage and sustain high levels of scholarly performance. It is open solely to Brock tenured and tenure-track faculty.

Chair holders are people who have demonstrated exceptional promise of outstanding contributions to scholarship and/or have a track record of scholarly excellence. Recipients of the Chancellor’s Chair for Research Excellence can undertake a specific three-year program of research leading to a significant development in their scholarship (e.g., a scholarly monograph, a state-of-the-art review that might lead to a seminal series of scholarly lectures). The research program for the Chair may be integrated within a broader research and scholarly focus.

The Award for Distinguished Research and Creative Activity recognizes faculty whose distinguished research or creative activity (appropriate to the nominee’s discipline and faculty) demonstrates outstanding research achievements, contributions to the training of future researchers, and consistency in scholarly or creative performance. Recipients are formally recognized by the presentation of a diploma and cash award at a University function. This one-year award in the form of a research grant is not attached to any specific research activity or proposal.

Updated guidelines and nomination forms for the 2010 competitions can be found in the Grants and Contracts section of Brock Research.
