Power in Pedagogical Approaches

This ongoing research investigates power dynamics as they exist in pedagogical approaches to early childhood education. Varied notions of power are present in any given educational setting, including adult-child, child-child, group, child-material, and space and place. Six early learning approaches are presently being investigated for power dynamics including Indigenous Early Learning Framework, Nature Education, and Reggio Emilia. Each approach will be assessed using primary source documents, analyzed through a thematic coding process.
