Students participate in a mock interview event hosted by the Co-op Programs Office at Pond Inlet Wednesday night.

More than 160 students spent Wednesday night telling potential employers where they see themselves in 10 years.

Their answers, along with those to other job interview questions, were critiqued as part of mock interviews for arts, social sciences and science co-op students.

The event was hosted by the Co-op Programs Office with the hope that the feedback students receive will help them ace the real thing when they interview for co-op work placements.

Given the feedback, it sounds like the students have the job interview down pat.

“The employers who participated all indicated that they were very impressed with the students they met and stated that they felt our students were very polished, engaged and well-prepared,” Julia Zhu, acting associate director of the Co-op Programs Office, said in an email.

The mock interview event is one of five the Co-op Programs Office hosts throughout the school year. The sessions are for students in 34 co-op programs across five faculties.

More than 700 students attend the mock interviews every year and more than 60 employers, including John Deere, Canadian Tire Financial, Meridian, RBC, Constellation Brands, Essential Collective Theatre Company, Brain Injury Community Re-Entry and Ingredion, regularly help out at them.
