Barbara Sainty has been named Interim Vice-President, Finance and Interim Associate Vice-President, Finance.

Brock University President Jack Lightstone has announced that Barbara Sainty will become Brock’s Interim Vice-President, Finance, as well as the Interim Associate Vice-President, Finance.

The appointment takes effect Oct. 1, 2012.

An accomplished academic with extensive administrative experience, Sainty has served as Interim Dean of the Faculty of Business (2008-10), Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs and Accreditation (2006-08), Chair of the Department of Accounting (2004-06) and Chair of the Department of Accounting and Finance (2003-04). She joined Brock in 1999 and shortly thereafter helped launch the Master of Accountancy program.

She is currently an associate professor in the Faculty of Business and Director of the Institute for International Issues in Accounting.

A chartered accountant and certified management accountant, Sainty received her PhD in accounting from Ohio State University (1995) and worked in the retail industry before her teaching career. She currently sits on the Board of Evaluators at the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Lightstone said Sainty is extremely well-suited to address the temporary void left by the departure of two senior University administrators. Joanne McKee, the current Associate Vice-President Finance, will leave this fall to take a senior position at Wilfrid Laurier University. Earlier this year, Steven Pillar stepped down as Vice-President Finance and Administration to accept a senior position at Trent University.

Brock is currently engaged in a recruitment search for a permanent Vice-President Finance and Administration.
