The professor of Political Science has received the J. E. Hodgetts Award from the Institute of Public Administration of Canada. The award goes to the author of the finest article appearing in the journal Canadian Public Administration.

“The Leadership Role of the Municipal Chief Administrative Officer” questions the expectations we have of municipal public service leaders. The successful CAO, Siegel writes, must be able to “lead in three different directions: down (dealing with subordinates), out (dealing with residents’ groups, media and other governments) and up (mayor and council).”

Siegel specializes in Canadian politics, local government and public policy and administration.
