Rick Hansen is coming to Brock, and we’re looking for people to run, walk, wheel or bicycle alongside the iconic athlete.

Hansen’s 25th Anniversary Relay will re-trace the Canadian segment of his original Man in Motion World Tour. For 25 years, Hansen and his foundation have raised funds for spinal cord research and raised awareness for a more accessible and inclusive world.

Medal bearers will do a portion of the trek alongside Hansen. The medal, produced by the Royal Canadian Mint, will be passed along throughout the country.

Brock will showcase three people. David Ditor, an associate professor of Kinesiology who researches spinal cord injury, will be one of the medal bearers. We need two other people — students, faculty or staff — who have made a difference to join him on Nov. 14, 2011.

Some examples of making a difference include:

  • Championing inclusivity: Creating a more inclusive and accessible society
  • Empowering youth: Engaging a new generation to become catalysts for positive change
  • Protecting the planet: Contribution to the protection and sustainability of the environment
  • Promoting health: Encouraging others to live a healthy, active lifestyle
  • Medical progress: Advancing research or healthcare for the betterment of others

Submit your proposal to be a medal bearer by Friday, Aug. 26 to Kim Post at kpost@brocku.ca. Include a description of how you are a champion for positive change.

Your submission should include your first and last name, email and phone number.
