Calling All Competitive Dancers! Participate in a Cutting-Edge Study on Movement and AI
Brock University researchers are inviting female competitive dancers (ages 12-18 years) to participate in a groundbreaking study combining motion capture technology and artificial intelligence (AI). This research explores dancer development by examining various factors that could impact dancer movements and expertise such as age, experience, perfectionism, injury history, and studio climate.
Participants will complete a two-hour lab session at Brock University’s Neuromechanics and Ergonomics Lab, featuring:
- State-of-the-art motion capture with wearable sensors and reflective markers
- Dance movement analysis, including kicks, jumps, turns, and optional acro tricks
- A short survey on dance experiences, perfectionism, studio climate, training, etc.
What’s in it for you?
- A $50 reimbursement for your time
- A deeper understanding of biomechanics and AI applications in dance
- Contributing to research that could revolutionize dancer training and health assessments
Requirements:
- Be a competitive female dancer aged 12 to 18 years
- No physical or cognitive impairments restricting physical activity
- No allergies to rubbing alcohol or adhesives
