Former Brock University President David Atkinson was spotted Tuesday afternoon in the Walker Sports Complex, participating in a spin class. Atkinson currently lives in Edmonton but periodically comes back to Niagara to visit his son. A spin instructor himself, Atkinson, when he's in town, likes to use the athletic and recreation facilities that he helped build as Brock's fourth president. In an interview earlier this year with the Edmonton Journal, Atkinson said that when he returns to Brock, no one recognizes him as the University's former president. "I'm just an old guy on the wall," he's quoted as saying, while referring to an oil painting that hangs in Brock's Sankey Chamber. "I don't want to be an old guy on the wall." Atkinson recently completed his time as President of MacEwan University in Edmonton.
