Indigenous artists featured at Rodman Hall

Always Vessels, an exhibition featuring nine Indigenous artists, opened Saturday, Jan. 27 at Rodman Hall Art Centre. Exhibition Curator Alexandra Kahsenni:io Nehwegahbow, left, and Rodman Hall Director Marcie Bronson, right, discuss Prophecy (Niagara Falls), a beaded sculpture by Haudenosaunee artist Samuel Thomas. The work is part of a series “The Power of Place” that examines Haudenosaunee engagement with global concerns. The piece alludes to an Haudenosaunee prophecy that Niagara Falls will flow backwards and encourages us to be mindful of human engagement with the natural environment. Thomas will be at Rodman Hall March 3 at 2 p.m. to talk about his work with the public. Always Vessels, produced by the Carleton University Art Gallery, will be available at Rodman Hall until March 11.
