Dig this history!

Members of the Brock University community got a glimpse of what was once the historic Shickluna Shipyard during a tour of a downtown St. Catharines archaeological excavation site on Wednesday, Aug. 14. Free public tours of the area, where work has been underway to uncover the abandoned marine site that operated from 1838 to 1891 along Twelve Mile Creek, will also be offered Saturday, Aug. 17 and Sunday, Aug. 18. For the past month, archaeologist Kimberly Monk, Adjunct Professor with Brock University's Department of History, has led a field school at the site for both Brock students and community members, who spent time searching for remnants and documenting lost local maritime history.
