Brock team raises $25,000 cycling for local cancer care

A team of 14 cyclists representing Brock University participated in the virtual Big Move Cancer Ride between Friday, Sept. 3 and Sunday, Sept. 19 in support of the Walker Family Cancer Centre in St. Catharines. The Brock University Cyclones team collectively raised $25,104 by riding a variety of distances, ranging from a 12-kilometre family ride to more than 75 kilometres. In the past 12 years, the team has collectively raised more than $150,000, with many of its members individually raising more than $10,000. Members of the 2021 team consisted of Mike Buckley; Alan Castle, Professor Emeritus; Gary Comerford, Past Chair of Brock University’s Board of Trustees; Tim Kenyon, Vice-President, Research; Ron Matsushita; Elna Mayberry, Scheduling Assistant, Office of the Registrar; Valerie McLean; Liz Powell, Financial Manager, Faculty of Humanities; Ella Suk; John Suk, former Chair of Brock University’s Board of Trustees; Josh Sekel, Senior Project Manager, Information Technology Services; John Senn; Karl Thorp, Senior Platoon Supervisor, Campus Security Services (team captain); and Linda Tremblay, Project Manager, Capital Planning and Project Management.
