Teaching assistants from across the University gathered on Wednesday, April 11 to attend the annual TA Reception. More than 50 recipients of awards or certificates packed Alphie’s Trough for a lunch and awards celebration that saw some of the most prestigious TA honours presented. Among those honoured, Talha Rafiq, left, from the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences, took home the TA Award, a Graduate Teaching Assistant Practicum Certificate, a TA Certificate and an Advanced TA Certificate. Rafiq was joined by Hawa Conde, centre, also from the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences, who received this year’s Novice TA Award as well as a TA Certificate. Evans Boadi, right, from the Faculty of Mathematics and Science received the International TA Award as well as an Advanced TA Certificate. The awards celebration and lunch is held each spring and sponsored by the Office of the Provost and Vice-President Academic and the Centre for Pedagogical Innovation. This year’s award and certificate recipients join more than 1,500 TAs who have received certification in the past two decades.
