The Centre for Sport Capacity (CSC) team attended the Grand Slam of Curling this past weekend from Thursday, Oct. 19 to Sunday, Oct. 22. The annual series of events, owned and operated by Sportsnet, showcases the top-ranked men’s and women’s curling teams from around the world. In partnership with the Niagara Parks Commission, the CSC conducted an event impact analysis, which involved asking spectators, vendors, and volunteers to complete a survey. The findings of the survey will inform a report that examines the economic impact the event had on the Niagara region. While at the Grand Slam, the CSC team received a behind-the-scenes tour from Sportsnet and gained expert insight from broadcast and event professionals about what it takes to market and host an event of this scale.
