These beaded animals were created by Lazarus, a resident of Namibia who learned a local trade to create a sustainable income for his family in the Township Katurta. The cards in the background are made by Rosemary as income for her three children, one of whom has a severe disability. Rosemary has decided to work from home to ensure her children are protected and provided for. These are just a couple of the social enterprises Brock's Broad Abroad Namibia South African students supported during their experiential learning opportunity this past month. Some beaded animals seen here include lions, lizards, a zebra and the oryx, the national animal of Namibia. A panel discussion will be held on June 14 to highlight the student learning experiences abroad. Watch Brock News for more information.
