Game Studies Master of Arts (MA) students Stu Gritter and Tony Payment demonstrate their card game, Networking, during an event held last week to showcase their course projects with the Brock community. In their game, players collect humorous skill cards, such as rock collecting and water slide testing, in the hopes of winning a job. Held in the Brock LINC, the showcase allowed visitors to test games created by students in GAME 5P02: Games for Education, Health, and Persuasion, who worked in pairs to develop games that could be used for teaching, conveying a message, persuading or marketing. After developing a high-level game design document that included details such as core mechanics, concept art, sound and level design, and a production timeline, students spent about a month developing their digital and analogue games. The games were assessed based on functionality and the incorporation of game theories covered in the course.
