Professor of Popular Culture and Film celebrated for contributions over the past 40 years

On Tuesday, Nov. 22, the Department of Communication, Popular Culture and Film (CPCF) celebrated award-winning scholar, academic and teacher Barry Grant for his contributions to the Brock community and his impactful research in popular culture and film over the past 40 years. Fond memories, kind words and well-wishes were shared during Grant’s retirement celebration. Speeches were given by Joseph Kushner, Professor of Economics, long-time friend and tennis partner; David Siegel, Interim Dean of the Faculty of Education; Carol Merriam, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities; Tom Dunk, Interim Provost and Vice-President Academic; a former graduate student; Christie Milliken, Chair of the Department of CPCF; Scott Henderson, Chair of the Brock University Senate and Professor of CPCF. Kushner also presented Grant with a special appreciation certification from St. Catharines Mayor, Walter Sendzik. Grant is internationally, nationally and locally known for his influential research, community engagement, passion for teaching and his generous and kind spirit.
