Brock's Faculty of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (FGSPA) welcomed more than 600 new graduate students this fall, with almost 240 gathering for a new student welcome and orientation on Tuesday, Sept. 5. The event included a welcome from Vice-Provost and Dean Suzanne Curtin, information on FGSPA staff support, a service fair and lunch in Market Hall. Keynote speaker Lynn Wells, Brock's Provost and Vice-President, Academic, shared her experience as a graduate student and discussed the importance of reflecting on personal growth and resilience. A student panel shared tips for success, including staying organized with agendas and planners, celebrating wins no matter how small, setting aside time for physical and mental self-care, and tackling assignments one step at a time and prioritizing them by weight.
