Associate Professor of Communication, Popular Culture and Film Kate Cassidy (right) led a session on the impact of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in the classroom and workplace during Brock University’s Spring Perspectives on Teaching and Learning event. Hosted by the Centre for Pedagogical Innovation on Monday, May 5, the annual event brought together faculty, instructors, teaching assistants and community partners for a day of keynotes, workshops and interactive sessions. The event’s goal is to explore innovative teaching practices, academic integrity, inclusion and the evolving role of technology such as AI in higher education. The keynote address, "Academic Integrity in a Postplagiarism Era: Prioritizing Pedagogy instead of Punishment," was given by Sarah Eaton, a renowned academic integrity scholar from the University of Calgary. Resources from the day will be available on the CPI website in the coming weeks.
