Brock University celebrated Pi Day on Tuesday, March 14 (or 3/14) with sweet treats and demonstrations of available map services at the University's Map, Data and GIS Library (MDGL). Mathematicians mark the day in recognition of pi, the irrational number 3.14159…. Pi is used to calculate various mathematical events, including the circumference and area of a circle. The MDGL has a display highlighting circular locations in Niagara and offers a small video tutorial of how ArcGIS Online can be used to calculate a buffer and in turn the area of the circular buffer.
