Making returns less taxing

Accounting student Alison Sheets, centre, assists Biology Ph.D. student Marina de Lima Marcolin, right, with her tax return at the Goodman Tax Clinic which wrapped up this week. A team of accounting students from Brock’s Goodman School of Business volunteered at the clinic that was open to the Niagara community. Masters of accountancy student Guy Jung, left, took on a team lead role at the Tax Clinic which saw a steady stream of clients over a two-week span. “We learn a lot of theory here at Brock, but to have an opportunity like this to actually get experience to put it to good use is a wonderful thing,” said Jung, who is on his way to achieving a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. “We want to help as many people as possible. When we have people from the community attend, it is a great learning experience for students to learn to deal with an array of situations they may encounter.”
