The Department of English Language and Literature hosted the second annual Marilyn Rose Lecture on Tuesday, March 20. Canadian poet Susan Holbrook read a selection of poems from her most recent book, Throaty Wipes. Award-winning biographer and writer Elspeth Cameron, who has taught at Brock, talked about the challenges of writing biography and explored the question of who owns biographies and issues of appropriations. Marilyn Rose was a professor of English at Brock University. She served as chair of the department, and then went on to be the founding dean of Brock’s Faculty of Graduate Studies. The lecture series honours Rose, who passed away in 2015, by exploring themes that reflect her passions. From left are Professor Ann Howey, Elspeth Cameron, Susan Holbrook and Professor Gregory Betts.
