Brock Philosophy Professor Christine Daigle (left) and Earth Sciences Professor Francine McCarthy explored key transdisciplinary questions about what it means to be living in the Anthropocene, a proposed new epoch in geological time, during a free public lecture held at the Niagara Falls History Museum on Thursday, Nov. 23. McCarthy discussed the process of naming intervals of geologic time and the rationale for an Anthropocene epoch. Daigle reflected on the significance of naming a geological epoch after humanity and how this can trigger ethical questions about human responsibility toward the planet and its inhabitants.
