Friends and family of Brock Goodman School of Business student Troy Larouche presented a $2,700 donation to Heartland Forest in his honour on Monday, June 27. Larouche, who passed away in September while finishing the final term of his BBA dual degree at EBS Business School in Germany, had completed one of his co-op work terms at the Niagara Falls nature centre and is fondly remembered by the staff there. Funds for the donation were raised by Larouche’s classmates, who set up a café at EBS, which sold cookies, coffee and sandwiches throughout the semester. “Troy was at the centre of it all and had a great relationship with everyone in the program,” said Larouche’s roommate Patrick Heming. “After Troy’s accident, we knew we wanted to donate the coffee shop’s proceeds in his memory, and Heartland Forest was a perfect fit.” From left are Heartland Forest Founder Dan Bouwman, café co-organizer Victoria Wityk, Troy's brother Paul Larouche, Heming, Troy's brother Ryan Larouche and Troy's parents Larry and Brenda Larouche.
