Brock history students celebrated the release of the 2017 edition of the undergraduate history journal “The General” on Monday, April 10. Co-editors Danielle Whitter and Emily Byrne, pictured with contributors Amanda Balyk and Rachel Urovitz, worked with Professor Jessica Clark to review student submissions and produce the journal. Members of Brock Historical Society volunteered with copy editing. Of 26 papers submitted, 10 were selected for the journal. Selected essays reflect the diversity of work done in the department. Whitter and Byrne learned much about the publishing process and the possibility of careers in publishing while gaining academic credit for HIST4P99. The journal will be available digitally through Brock Library; print copies are available for $10 from the history department. The journal was started the Historical Society last year to provide students with a venue to share their research work.
