Helping to amplify the Indigenous Games

Fourth-year Brock University Sport Management student Lucas Rotondo (pictured) and recent Sport Management graduate Nick Lacoste (BSM ’23) spent a week in Halifax, N.S., last month at the 2023 North American Indigenous Games as part of a four-month summer internship with the Manitoba Aboriginal Sports and Recreation Council (MASRC) to promote sport for Indigenous people. Serving as MASRC’s content team, the duo covered 31 events over six days, which included taking more than 12,000 photos of various athletes, teams and sports; composing a daily newsletter that was distributed to 1,500 subscribers; and creating more than 100 Facebook and Instagram stories that garnered more than 130,000 impressions and increased profile activity by 268 per cent.
